London Print Studio

Recent etchings created during my 3 week printmaking residency in London. This was my 3rd residency at LPS, and my favorite print studio in the world!

These solar plate etching monotypes are part of a series called “The Everlasting Ocean Rolls” inspired by my travels through the Scottish Highlands and islands of Skye, Mull and Iona in May 2019.

Starting with photopolymer etching plates, I used a combination of inking the surface and adding chine collé to create one-of-a-kind monotypes. Each print image is 10” x 8” on 14” x 10” Fabriano paper.

You can see some of my prints on my BUY page HERE

Resources Page - all my favorite art supplies, tools and books

I’m often asked by my students and others what art supplies I use, so I now have made it easy for you by finally adding a RESOURCES page to my site! I only recommend products that I use and love, and I have written short descriptions of each product and why I suggest them.

Click on the top right menu bar for supplies or HERE.

I also created a page of my favorite inspirational books about artists and the creative process. Again, I only recommend books that I have read and love and you can find them HERE. I’ll be updating these pages regularly so check back often!

I’m part of a 4 person show at Globe Fine Art Gallery in Santa Fe, NM. The opening is on October 5, with a reception from 5-7 at 727 Canyon Road. Please join us!

This beautiful 4 person show opens on October 5th, 5-7pm. I'm thrilled to be in the good company of the 3 other artists also obsessed with trees in their work - Robert Striffolino, Tim Althauser and Reid Richardson.

An excerpt from my statement:
"Trees are shelter, they give freely of their fruits and nuts, they shade us from the summer sun, and vividly blush before dropping their leaves. They give the soil structure, and house birds and animals. They are the lungs of this earth…”

Artist Residency in Ireland - September 2018

While this is quite remote, there are 7 cottages for the artists here, and lots of opportunities for connecting with each other.

amy clay - teaching summer 2018.jpg

We sometimes feel that confidence must be the motivating factor in our creative growth. But in truth it is courage that must come first. Not just for those starting on their creative journey, but every step along the way requires the strength and courage to keep going into the unknown, to explore new territory. But this involves trusting your innate guidance to nurture your unique and tender voice, as well as learning new techniques. We will go deep into all of this in this immersive weekend workshop!

Join me for my weekend workshops as listed below and PLAY! Class size is very limited so sign up early.

This online course is all about ARTIST RESIDENCIES – how to find the right one for you, create a compelling application and become an artist in residence.  EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW! For those who are creative and love to travel, artist residencies are the Holy Grail. From Antarctica to the Arctic Circle and everywhere between, artist residencies are dedicated places for creatives to focus on their work, travel to cool places and meet others from around the world. I’ve been lucky to have attended 20 residencies in 14 different countries and counting, including Turkey, Iceland, New Zealand and India. I’ve been asked so many times about my experiences, that I am offering this as my first online course!

I'm very excited to be spending the month of April as artist in residence at the extraordinary Brush Creek Ranch with 7 other artists from around the country.

Look for updates on my Blog, as I'll be more regular with my blog entries - more in-process, photos, sketchbook entries, etc!
