As many of you know, I have been on an artist residency journey for the past 15 years, and have been fortunate to attend 30+ residencies in over 25 countries. So far I’m looking forward to 2 residencies so far this year - 1 in the Shetland Islands, and the other in SW Ireland!
In this 1 1/2 hour live Zoom class, I will go over the 7 key things to know about residencies (+ bonus), my do’s and don’ts, successes and failures. You will have a chance to ask all sorts of questions which I will hopefully have answers to! 1/2 hour for questions
I will cover:
WHAT: what are they and how do i get in on it? From the Arctic to the tropics and everywhere in between.
WHY: your WHY is what it’s about - this will help you narrow the search, save time, money
HOW: how to find the right one for you - researching, choosing
APPLY: applying with your best proposal - how to craft your proposal to be chosen.
PREPARE: How to prepare for a residency, packing etc.
ARRIVING: What to expect when you get there, What about the people?
THE WORK: The work you do in respect to PLACE - being present. Open studios, exhibition?
