Sometimes I set myself a painting challenge, to create boundaries in the candy store that is art-making. As summer heats up, my gaze turns to the cooling effect of Aqua. Doesn't matter in what way it shows up, but in land-locked Colorado, it gives me a a sense of water, flow, and diving in to something that isn't rock.

In my classes I often suggest doing a series of 10 or more small paintings with some kind of theme, motif, or color palette. Just to get started - anywhere. It doesn't matter what you choose, the point is to engage with the materials and get going!

These paintings are fast and loose, pint sized and purposely affordable. I love working small - there is less investment, and each painting works alone or paired with others. And I like to have options for those that maybe can't afford the larger works. Each painting is 6" x6" x .75" or 7" x 5" x .75" and is $99.
